A fierce competetitor who left North Carolina after his sophomore year and was selected third overall in the 1995 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. Was a backcourt mate to Allen Iverson before being traded to the Detroit Pistons on December 18, 1997. Has become an offensive threat with the ability to score from a variety places on the floor and a knack for drawing fouls on drives to the basket. Elevated his overall game during the 2001-02 season where he led the Pistons to an unexpected Midwest Division title. Joined the Washington Wizards in off-season trade on September 11, 2002.
 
COLLEGE:
Stackhouse came to the NBA as an early entry candidate after two outstanding seasons at North Carolina. As a sophomore he was named a First Team All-American by the Associated Press and College Player of the Year by Sports Illustrated, as well the Most Outstanding Player of the Southeast Regional in the 1995 NCAA Tournament. As a high school senior, Stackhouse averaged 24 points and 8 rebounds per game and led Oak Hill Academy to the mythical high school national championship in 1993, then was named Most Valuable Player of the McDonald's High School All-America Game. In his first season at North Carolina, Stackhouse joined Phil Ford and Sam Perkins as the only Tar Heels freshmen to win the Everett Case Award as MVP of the ACC Tournament.
